Layout

“Sweet Garden” is a spacious and tastefully designed newly built house in the heart of Connemara. Upon entering the house, you will be greeted by a large entrance hall with high ceilings, which leads to a spacious open plan living area that includes a comfortable lounge, contemporary kitchen and dining area (seating 10, comfortably).
The floor to ceiling windows throughout the property fill the house with natural light and the dining area opens out onto a large outdoor roofed terrace, furnished with cushioned lounging furniture and perfect for a BBQ and a glass of wine whilst enjoying the fresh sea air.

The house has three generously sized bedrooms, two bathrooms and a cloakroom.

On the ground floor, the spacious master suite is a real treat, with breath-taking views of the mountains and featuring a separate dressing room and en-suite bathroom. Upon entering the master suite, you will encounter a king-size bed, complete with high quality bedding for a restful night’s sleep. The room is tastefully decorated with modern furnishings, including seating where guests can enjoy spectacular views while enjoying a morning coffee or relaxing after a long day at sea! The adjoining dressing room (with its own secret fridge and coffee station) offers plenty of storage space, including large bespoke floor-to-ceiling fitted wardrobes and a dressing table and mirror. The dressing room is perfect for getting ready for an evening out or a relaxing evening of ‘staying in’ and pampering. The luxurious en-suite bathroom is sanctuary, with a large walk-in shower, a deep soaking free-standing bathtub, underfloor heating and a vanity.

There are two large, bright, family rooms upstairs (each with double and single beds), with views of the countryside and ocean. All beds are dressed in fresh crisp linen and bathrooms are furnished with soft white towels.

An unexpected bonus is the stunning ‘cocktail room’, perfect for those who appreciate unwinding to the finer things in life after a long day of exploring. The cocktail room is the perfect space for entertaining and enjoying a cocktail or two with friends and family. Also, a retreat for those wishing to sneak off to a quiet place with the Sunday morning papers!

The property also accommodates working from home, offers a babysitting service, and an additional evening meal / breakfast option (provided by a local chef).
If you are looking for a luxurious retreat balanced with the comfort of ‘home away from home’ this luxury house by the sea is the perfect choice for you.

Why not take a trip to Derrygimlagh Hill, one of the most historical spots in Connemara for 2 very important reasons:

  2. Alcock and Brown landed their first ever transatlantic flight on the very same spot in 1919.

There’s no end of sea fishing opportunities in Connemara, especially in Ballyconneely so you can test your angling prowess! And with plentiful fish stocks it’s no wonder anglers flock here all year round. Popular spots for anglers include the harbour at Erislannan Point, the sheltered bay at Candoolin (close to the cottage) and Mannin Bay. Mannin Bay in particular has good innings for the small boat angler. Plaice is the most popular catch in this area while nearby Ballyconneely Bay has great potential for catching tope, ray, dogfish and Pollack.

Ballyconneely Beaches:

Ballyconneely peninsula is virtually ringed by beaches – from the Coral Strand at Derrygimlagh, west and north to Knock, Mannin, Dun Loughan and Truska, and east and south from Keeraunmore, Aillebrack, and Ballyconneely Bay to Calla, Dolan and Murvey

Roundstone:

The village of Roundstone lies on the western arm of Bertraghboy bay in Connemara, Co. Galway, 48 miles (77km) north-west of Galway city. This Connemara village is beautifully set on one of the most spectacular coastal drives in Ireland overlooking the Atlantic at the foot of Errisbeg Mountain.

Roundstone Beaches:

Gurteen is the larger of the two and the closer to Roundstone. The water is crystal clear and it is very safe for swimming and other water based activities. It is naturally protected by the headland which it faces to the South and it is a popular destination for holiday makers in the summertime.

Dog’s Bay (or Port na Fadoige in Irish meaning Bay of Plovers) faces due west. It is famous for its mineral sands which are made of millions of microscopic shells. It is a stunning beach with its bright white sands and crystal blue water. Since 1991 the dunes separating Gurteen Beach from Dog’s Bay have been the focus of intensive efforts to plant Mar ram Grass to stem coastal erosion. Visitors are requested to respect the signs restricting access to the dunes. The wild headland which stretches out into the Atlantic between the two beaches is an area of great beauty and is a fantastic walk where you will be surrounded by water on three sides.

Clifden town ‘the Capital of Connemara’ is oozing history, heritage, culture & traditions of Irish Music and Dance. This vibrant town has an array of shops selling top quality gifts, trinket souvenirs and handmade knits but to name a few! You will also find boutiques, antique shops and art galleries. There are cosy coffee shops, pubs from the genuine ‘quaint-Irish’ to the more trendy where entertainment is plentiful. Whatever your taste in music you will find a selection of traditional, modern music and dance. Clifden has a reputation for the West’s ‘Gourmet Capital’ – for its fine restaurants. Take the kids to the town playground where they can have fun on the swings or have a kick about in the pitch beside it!
