Clifden, the capital of Connemara, is about 30 minutes drive away, with award-winning pubs, bars, galleries, restaurants and shops. Here, you can enjoy the area’s riches in style.

Free WiFi. Pets welcome. Cot/high chair/toys for young children available.

Beaches

There are hundreds. Check the map in the sitting room for directions. Or Google. Our favourites are:

  • Gurteen and Dog’s Bay, near Roundstone. 20min drive. Calm, clear water, miles of sand. Very child friendly. Great for a quick afternoon walk.
  • Mannin, near Ballyconneely. 40min drive. Miles of beach along a bay with views over the Twelve Bens. Rock pools, cowry shells, sand dunes, and swimming.
  • Doonloughan, near Ballyconneely. 35min drive. Atlantic facing and excellent for surfing/bodyboarding with a good swell. Plenty of sheltered areas to recover from the waves with sausages on the beach.
