The entrance hall leads you into the spacious and rustic living area where you will find a warm stove fire waiting for you. This room offers a Smart TV with Free to Air Channels and Netflix, 2, two seater leather couches, and two tables. There is carpet flooring throughout, oil-fired central heating, WiFi, and stunning views of Clifden town and harbour on offer.

Step down into the bright and spacious kitchen which is fully equipped with the following: microwave, gas cooker, fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, and separate washing machine and dryer. A serving hatch can be found here into the dining/living area.

The kitchen area leads onto a very large decked area which is ideal for dining al fresco or enjoying the sunset over Clifden Bay

A must-visit is the ruins of the old D’Arcy mansion, Clifden Castle. Along the Sky Road is a gateway leading to the castle. Once a Gothic Mansion, the D’Arcy’s lived here until 1850 when the estate was sold to the Eyre Family who lived here at intervals until the castle fell into ruin in the early 20th century.

There are many fine festivals to enjoy throughout the year in Connemara. Most full of music, dance, fun, laughter, activities, and games for the young and the young-at-heart. The most well-known and oldest of all is the Clifden Community Arts Festival which offers a superb range of poetry readings, lectures, recitals, traditional music, concerts, and comedy

At the summit of the Sky Road peninsula, there is Eyrephort beach at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

For those Rainy Days, the Station House Theatre shows the latest movies throughout the week. The theatre also runs live family-friendly shows suitable for all ages throughout the summer season. The Station House Leisure Centre has 3-day and weekly passes available for visitors to purchase, which allow you access to the hotel’s gym, swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and Jacuzzi!

Why not visit Dan O’Hara’s homestead (8-minute drive from Clifden town on the N59); an award-winning heritage center that offers a fascinating glimpse of rural Ireland in the mid-nineteenth century. Visitors can enjoy a carriage ride through the center and see demonstrations of turf cutting, sheep herding, and other traditional tasks.

Explore Connemara on an electric bike which can be hired from All Things Connemara (on Market Street) or take part in a bike tour with Connemara Cycling Tours (also on Market Street)

Clifden Friday Market takes place every Friday on Market Square where you will find a wide variety of producers selling their fresh produce to the general public. Be sure to arrive early, as most of the produce and stalls are gone by noon. There’s a good selection of organic vegetables, homemade bread, pies, herbs, fruits, flowers, plants and some clothing.

Clifden has probably the best fishing waters in Europe. The scenery in this area is spectacular on land and at sea with a great variety of seabirds and wildlife, including seals and dolphins. “We spent a lovely week in Connemara, based in White Heather House. Gerard, the owner ,was veey nice and was promptly on hand to help us with any problems. The location is ideal, right in the centre of the town. The rooms were clean and the kitchen well stocked. Seating in the living area is limited for a large number of guests, which was the only draw back, however, if the weather is nice there is a lovely patio area to sit out on.”- Orla August 2021

“We were a party of three couples with some little ones in tow and the White Heather House was the perfect spot for us. It’s situated centrally in Clifden and is close to all shops, restaurants and amenities (including a bike rental shop on same street). The house has all the mod cons and is perfect for cooking your own meals and includes a lovely backyard patio with lovely views over the bay. Gerard the host is great and looked after us well – he lives next door so is on hand if needed. We thought car parking might be an issue but it wasn’t and there’s a handy car park three doors up. Parking:-

There is a free car park less than a 5-minute walk from the property. Drive past the AIB bank and turn right in towards the Station House Hotel. Drive straight down to the car park.

All parking in the town is paid parking. You can purchase your parking ticket at the machine on the main street. It is applicable Mon–Sat from 11.30 am to 6 pm. It is free before and after those times and it is also free on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Please note that a €300 security deposit is required upon arrival. As long as there are no breakages or damage to the property this will be refunded on departure.
