This newly renovated detached property has been converted into a very stylish beautifully laid out 2 storey detached cottage based in the holiday village, Clifden Glen; which is on the Galway Road and is 1 mile from Clifden Town Centre, the Capital of Connemara. Ideal if you want to be near the town for convenience sake but far enough out to benefit from the peace and quiet of the country.

This newly renovated property has been converted into a very stylish beautifully laid out 2 story detached cottage based in the holiday village of Clifden Glen; which is on the Galway Road and is 1 mile from Clifden Town Centre, the Capital of Connemara. Ideal if you want to be near the town for convenience sake but far enough out to benefit from the peace and quiet of the country.

The Clifden Glen is the perfect area for families with younger children or teenagers. The grounds of the Clifden Glen have a tennis court, mini golf and a playground. There is an on-site bar, which is only a 2 minute walk from the house. There is also fishing and beautiful walks close by.

There is a huge green area to the front of the main reception area of the complex ideal for the kids & adults to monkey around!

The Owenglen river runs through the Clifden Glen complex – make sure and bring your fishing rods (you can purchase a fishing licence in the town centre).

Layout

Entrance Hallway:

Entering from the left of the property, you will come into the hallway area, where there is a washer and dryer. Straight in front you will find the guest bathroom which has a bath with shower overhead

Downstairs Bedroom (1):

Twin room which has a spacious wardrobe and a dressing table.  Window to the back of the property

Downstairs bedroom (2):

The second room downstairs has a large King size bed and en-suite with shower.   Window to the back of the property

Kitchen:

Open plan kitchen, dining area & sitting room. The kitchen is bright and spacious with all mod cons such as an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and extras such as a blender and steamer. There is a breakfast bar & large dining table with 6 chairs overlooking the front of the property.

Sitting Room:

The sitting room area is comfy and modern with a large L shape couch and a 2 seater sofa with large foot stool, perfect for relaxing! There is a mounted large HD TV, hanging over a large Blacksmith stove. There is also a desk and office chair.

From the sitting room area there is a further hallway which is ideal for storing wet gear/buggies/golf clubs etc.  There are 2 large storage cupboards.

Sitting room / Den / 4th bedroom (upstairs):

At the top of the stairs to your left, you will see a second sitting room area, with 2 couches and a 32 inch HD TV. Perfect chill out area for the kids!

Master bedroom (Upstairs):

If you turn right at the top of the stairs you will enter the large master bedroom which is beautiful and bright thanks to its sky light. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a en-suite with a large shower

There is a communal picnic bench to the front of the cottage where you can enjoy your meals alfresco.  The cottage is situated at the end of a Cul De Sac. It is safe for kids to play around. There is also a BBQ for those warm summer evenings!

Local Info

Clifden town ‘the Capital of Connemara’ is oozing history, heritage, culture & traditions of Irish Music and Dance. This vibrant town has an array of shops selling top quality gifts, trinket souvenirs and handmade knits but to name a few! You will also find boutiques, antique shops and art galleries. There are cosy coffee shops, pubs from the genuine ‘quaint-Irish’ to the more trendy where entertainment is plentiful. Whatever your taste in music you will find a selection of traditional, modern music and dance. Clifden has a reputation for the West’s ‘Gourmet Capital’ – for its fine restaurants. Take the kids to the town playground where they can have fun on the swings or have a kick about in the pitch beside it!

A must visit is the ruins of the old D’Arcy mansion, Clifden Castle. Along the Sky Road is a gateway leading to the castle. Once a Gothic Mansion, the D’Arcy’s lived here until 1850 when the estate was sold to the Eyre Family who lived here at intervals until the castle fell into ruin in the early 20th century.

There are many fine festivals to enjoy throughout the year in Connemara. Most full of music, dance, fun, laughter, activities and games for the young and the young-at-heart. The most well known and oldest of all is the Clifden Community Arts Festival which offers a superb range of poetry readings, lectures, recitals, traditional music, concerts and comedy

At the summit of the Sky Road peninsula there is Eyrephort beach at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

For those Rainy Days, the Station House Theatre shows the latest movies throughout the week. The theatre also runs live family friendly shows suitable for all ages throughout the summer season. The Station House Leisure Centre have 3 day and weekly passes available for visitors to purchase, which allow you access to the hotel’s gym, swimming pool, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi!

Why not visit Dan O’Haras homestead (8 minute drive from Clifden town on the N59); an award winning heritage centre which offers a fascinating glimpse of rural Ireland in the mid-nineteenth century. Visitors can enjoy a carriage ride through the centre and see demonstrations of turf cutting, sheep herding and other traditional tasks.

Explore Connemara on an electric bike which can be hired from All Things Connemara (on Market Street) or take part in a bike tour with Connemara Cycling Tours (also on Market Street)

Clifden Friday Market takes place every Friday on Market Square where you will find  a wide variety of producers selling their fresh produce to the general public. Be sure to arrive early, as most of the produce and stalls are gone by noon. There’s a good selection of organic vegetables, homemade breads, pies, herbs, fruits, flowers, plants and some clothing.

Clifden has probably the best fishing waters in Europe. The scenery in this area is spectacular on land and at sea with a great variety of seabirds and wildlife, including seals and dolphins. Why not spend the day sea angling? Approximately, 4km from Clifden Town Centre, you will find a delightful Pitch and Putt course, which is suitable for all ages and a great activity that the whole family will enjoy!

Connemara has long been regarded as the real emerald of Ireland ‘Connemara is a savage beauty’ Oscar Wilde. Connemara’s landscape will take your breath away, golf competitions and horse riding on wonderful open grassland. . Boat races, regattas, music festivals, marathons, activity events all take place throughout the year.

“Very comfortable and clean property. Property is bright, spacious and well located close to Clifden. The 3 bathrooms are super quality. The kitchen while we did not use cooking much is very adequate. TV and heating are all fine. With 3 double bedrooms our 8 year old enjoyed his own personal upstairs “suite” of bedroom bathroom and connected TV sitting/relaxing room for early morning kids TV. The only minor negative is that one of the downstairs back bedrooms whether occupied or not needs the heat on regularly to keep fresh. “We recently stayed at Clifden Glen with our 18 month old toddler. He loved the open plan kitchen/living area with great space for him to play and walk around in. The location is great – just a minute from Clifden, and you can hear the sound of the river when you open the windows or walk outside. The beds are comfortable, the house is modern and the location is nice and quiet but not too remote. A decent sized TV with freesat which was perfect for watching the rugby world cup while enjoying the warm stove. Would recommend and would definitely stay here again.”-Michael October 2015

The Electricity is pay as you go, €20.00 is paid before arrival to get you started it is then the guests responsibility to top up the meter thereafter, details on how to top up will be e-mailed prior to your arrival.

Please note that a €100 security deposit is pre-authorised by credit card 2 to 3 days prior to your arrival, card details are released 3 days after your departure as long as there are no breakages or damage to the property.  Please note damage deposits may take up to 10 working days to be released back to the guest depending on the guests bank.

Check-in time is between 4pm & 6pm (If you require a later check-in time please let us know)

Check-out time is 10am on day of departure.

During peak season the changeover dates are Saturdays.
